Where does my tree go after it’s been pruned or felled it?

We are often asked by clients what happens to all the timber and branches once we have finished a project of either pruning or felling a tree. Tree surgery and pruning obviously generates a large volume of timber and wood chip in various formats and the good news is that we recycle 100% of our waste, including:

Logs and Hardwoods

All our logs are converted into firewood and sold via our sister company Brentwood Logs.

Well-seasoned logs that have been split and allowed to dry naturally have a low burning efficiency making them ideal fuel for wood burning stoves and fires. As all the logs are supplied from sustainable local sources you know that you are contributing to a greener environment.

We also sell firewood and wood chip mulch, visit our online shop to order online.

Low grade woodchip and soft woods

Woodchip goes to ‘Stobarts Biomass’ and from there it is distributed to a network of Biomass power stations across the country.

Who are Stobarts Biomass?

Stobart Biomass is part of the Stobarts group (the original Eddie Stobarts distribution network). By harnessing their expertise in the transport industry – Stobbarts are well placed to source recyclable timber and low, low-grade softwood for the generation of minimum-carbon power plants utilised both in large-scale electricity generation and smaller, onsite industrial power plants.

Many of us are blending of chipped wood and combustible waste into a major source of low carbon energy. As they continue to rise in importance, these key biofuels will help significantly reduce the global carbon footprint.

Sweepings

Even the finest sweepings and ‘sawdust’ can be recycled by converting it into compost for your garden.

Here at Prince Tree Surgery we pride ourselves on leaving all sites cleared of debris and putting the waste to good use.
